Short version: Typeloft does not know who you are, and keeps only the results you choose to save.

Updated October 31, 2026 (Contact).

While you practise

Lessons, tests, drills and your own text run in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to the server. Text you paste into "Your own text" never leaves your browser.

When you press Save

The server stores the result: what you practised (for example "Lesson 6"), the number of correct characters and of keys pressed, the time, the speed and accuracy worked out from them, and for each key how many times it was right or wrong. It is stored under a random 12-character code that makes up your Practice Log link. There are no names, no emails and no accounts. Anyone with the link can read the log, so keep it to yourself.

This browser remembers your log link in its own storage so the next save goes to the same log. "Forget it on this browser" on the log page removes it.

How long

A free log keeps your newest 10 results, a Pass log 1,000. Logs nobody opens for 400 days are deleted, and you can delete yours at any time from the log page. Nightly database backups are kept for 14 days.

Cookies and addresses

The home page and other pages without a form set no cookies. Pages with a Save or Delete button set one security cookie (it stops other sites posting forms in your name). To limit abuse the server counts saves per connection per hour; the address is kept only as a one-way scrambled value for two days. No analytics services, no tracking cookies and no third-party fonts. The only outside service any page loads is the banner ad from adengine.us described under Advertising; it also counts one page view per page as a daily total.

Advertising

The home page, the lessons, the speed test, the Edit Drills, pricing and How it measures show one banner ad from AdEngine (adengine.us), the small ad network run by WeldonPC, the company behind this site. For now the ads are for WeldonPC's own services. Your Practice Log, the weak-key drill, your own text, this page and the terms show no ad.

To show an ad, your browser loads a script from adengine.us, asks it for one banner, loads the banner image, and reports once that the page was viewed and once that the banner was shown. Like any website, adengine.us receives your IP address, your browser type and the address of this site with those requests. It never receives the page's own address or anything you type.

  • No cookies, no profile. AdEngine sets no cookies, gives you no ID and does not track you from site to site.
  • How your IP address is used. adengine.us looks up the approximate city for your IP address in a location database kept on its own server (nothing is sent to anyone else), so that ads meant for one area are shown only there. It also uses the address to count each ad view or click only once and to leave out robots and WeldonPC's own office traffic. The address is not stored with the counts; the temporary entries made from it expire within six hours and are cleared from the server within two days.
  • What is kept. Daily totals only: page views for this site, and views and clicks for each ad. The adengine.us web server also keeps a standard access log (IP address, time, address requested, referring site, browser) for security; it is deleted on a rolling schedule.
  • Clicking an ad passes through adengine.us, which counts the click, and then opens the advertiser's site, which has its own privacy policy.
  • Nothing about you is sold or shared.
